After a long journey we made it to beautiful Thomas Island. The anchorage was very rolly so we didn't sleep that well but had a pleasant enough time. The kids remained bright and chirpy so we set off for Airlie. The wind decided not to cooperate so we had to motor but that wasn't so bad. Halfway up we saw a pod of dolphin so immediately stopped the boat and jumped overboard to have a swim with them. They obviously hadn't been to Seaworld as they didn't respond to the water tapping but still hung around a while. The water was sublime and clear but the bottom of the boat was showing the effects of not enough care. The clarity of the water showed up the growth underneath and gave an insight into why the boat was moving a little slower through the water.
Got into Airlie in the early arvo and immediately felt the urge for a walk. The town is very pleasant and of course Ella and Jack decided I should live here so they can visit. Problem is the marina is quite expensive and the anchorage is average being bad in a northerly which is the wind that predominates at this time of year.
There was much hilarity while we played in the playground with Jack seeing how dizzy he could get on a spinning thingo. The lagoon here is a gorgeous setting for just hanging out and we did that well. We wandered back to the boat and had a well earned peaceful nights sleep.
