It's 7am Mexican time but because I have already travelled across two time zones, it's still dark outside. The air is perfect, a tinge of humidity and a great temperature so its no chore to take watch. The wake is especially phosphorescent this morning. Tiny lights sparkle in the foam as if tiny little things are being disturbed by my passing and the come out and turn on their front porch light (led of course). There are thousands of them so the boat is creating quite a disturbance.
The boat is coasting at 5 to 6 knots with occasional bursts to 7. There is a bit of pitch and roll but not too bad. Course over ground 212
The feeling of isolation is now very strong. Since leaving La Cruze, and the shipping lane down the coast, only one fishing boat has been sighted. There have been no other traces of human existence for five days now. It seems that this incredible space is unoccupied. Not many are fortunate enough to feel this far gone.
