Finally got away at 3.30pm yesterday. The seas have been lumpy and so the ride is a little rough bit the conditions other than that are very pleasant. Dolphin are everywhere and the first fish catch occured when a small flying fish landed on deck. He got thrown back as he was too small to consider cooking but it was certainly a distraction.
Getting away was a performance and the fuel up was hard work, the sailing is easy in comparison and the glorious sunshine isn't hard to bear. In La Cruze I got a bench made that converts the cockpit into a bed and it has made all the difference. Sleeping at the wheel is now feasible (on auto pilot).
Have covered around 120nm out of 7000 so its progress but not a lot.
