Hopefully, all available digits crossed, I will legally be able to untie the boat in a couple of days. Until the customs matters are all complete, Farr Gone is restricted to port. Mostly my fault as I elected to go to Melbourne to see family etc and had to re start the process when I got back. Still it will feel good to throw the rope once more.
Ella is unsure of her plans as she is waiting on a visa for her Mexican boyfriend so that he can join her up here and we can sail to the whitsundays. That seems to be the direction I want to head for a little while.
Today the motor gets put back together at last and the last coats of varnish go on a few items. Having the motor again means hot water. I have to get parts to convert the hot water service to 240 volt from the US so the only way to get hot water is to run the engine. The hardest item to fix was the hand rail in the bathroom that I had fallen on during some violent movements and broken from the wall. The damage was very small but the process of fixing it took four days, of about an hour each day, fibreglassing, gel coating, matching the gelcoat, and buffing. All over a square inch. Boats, who'd have em.
I had to install a new TV as the old one had died and was NTSC. It was also a plasma and used a lot of power. The new Led is great and combined with a new laptop, an apple at last, the movies look really good. Not that I've actually watched any completely but I could. It's actually good from the point of view of radar as it is easily visible from the helm and can be used under way. Combined with ais all targets are known. There is no doubt as to what is a ship and what is a cloud. All good.
I still have to work on the furler so it stops giving trouble and there is a hinge problem on the stern platform but these shouldn't take long, after all what could possibly go wrong?
