Wed am. Woke to thick mist. No wind or current, so set off slowly
with radar on and lookouts on front deck. The mist lifted after an hour and we
then saw large flocks of Eider ducks.
Arrived in Haapsalu a famous seaside and mud spa town just after lunch in
glorious sunshine. Ashore for an explore, a couple of cheeky pints of our
favourite Estonian beer “Saku Kuld” followed by Estonian Pizza.
Thurs. Haapsalu is renowned for its warm bathing water and the water
temp in the harbour was 18 degrees. Perfect opportunity to dive and take a
file to the propeller to cure the annoying “Propeller Sing” that had been with
us since I polished the prop for the voyage. An approx. 40 degree chamfer to the
trailing edge on the suction side has completely cured the problem, no whistling
at all at any revs. My apologies to the early crews who had to put up with
the racket! |
