Finally we are heading north. After days of sailing only
East. Just opposite of what the pilotbook writes. We have to admit that we had
to motorsail through the low last night, we picked up southerly wind this
morning faster than expected and a little bit more than expected. We used the
genacker all morning and made good progress. The wind increased and we changed
to a poled out foresail on the other side of the main. At this moment we're a
bit dissapointed that the wind dropped again, we thought we were set for the
next 48h. But the wind will come. We hope to get to the lat of 47degrees or as
north as possible before the wind turns and have set a heading of 25degrees.
It is strange though: the swell comes from the north
against us, wind waves from behind. I can see us drifting towards east with the
current pushing us aside, we stear app. 15 degrees more west than our actual
course... We have to get used to currents again.
De kids profiteren er volop van dat de boot niet te
schuin hangt, de lego en de playmobiel zijn populair vandaag. Afgelopen nacht
hebben ze in kamp "noord" oftewel onze kajuit mogen slapen. De zak van de
spinacker tussen hen in zodat ze niet op elkaar rollen en dan hebben ze geen
last van de draaiende motor. Wij zelf krijgen dan het beste plekje in de
"living"met alles onder de tafel gepropt zodat we er niet kunnen uit rollen. Wel
met oordopjes anders slaap je niet van het lawaai. Een ganse reorganisatie
maar wel eens een leuke afwisseling. Voor volgende nacht ieder terug op zijn
eigen plek.
We begonnen er al rekening mee te houden (met plan B)
dat we in A Coruna zouden landen maar met de (voorlopige) zuidenwind maken we
weer vooruitgang in de goede richting. Misschien wordt het plan C, Brest, of
halen we alsnog plan A, Fallmouth. Zo kunnen we nog doorgaan tot plan Z,
rechtstreeks naar huis. We will see...
