Yesterday night the wind dropped at 20.00h, as our
specialist weather router from Lunni predicted. We started motorsailing,
more motoring than sailing and we are trying to keep the pace at 5 kts, to enter
Bermuda during daylight. At this moment we have 50nm to go till the entrance
channel and 11h of daylight. Let us hope that the wind just gives us that extra
knot of speed or we will arrive in the dark, in Bermuda of all
places!
We cannot forget to mention that yesterday when we
started the engine and put it in forward, our friend the sargasso seaweed was
there aswell, so we did the Kiet manoeuvre. And it worked! For those who do't
know SY Kiet, sail into the wind till your speed is abolutly zero, turn the
engine in reverse, go back to your normal heading and all the seaweed is gone!
The special thing about it, is that Kiet could do this without the
engine.
This is the last message for this oceancrossing, unless
we can get our hands on wifi. We will give notice to you all when we will start
the next leg to the Azores.
Gedaan met de warme zomernachten! Toen we vertrokken in
the BVI konden we ook 's nachts gewoon in short en T-shirt verder zeilen. De
tweede nacht al moesten we een pulleke aan, de derde was het toch aangenamer met
een lange broek en sokken erbij. Jullie voelen het al aankomen zeker, onze
zeilbroeken zijn al uit de kast, na zonsondergang is het hier toch al een beetje
frisjes. WIj gaan koud hebben op de oceaan naar de Azoren.
De ereader wordt nu heel extra intensief gebruikt. Papa
mag van de kids enkel 's nachts lezen.
De kids hebben ook vooraan onze kajuit helemaal
ingepalmd, daar is het met oordoppen goed te doen van het lawaai, dus zij slapen
daar. En overdag is onze kajuit blijkbaar het ideale
'beren' basketbalveld.
Steven is ook aan het rusten, Mr Simrad heeft het
overgenomen.
Binnenkort ga ik kunnen tonen waar ik 25 jaar geleden
ook geweest ben, ik ben beniuwd of ik nog iets zal herkennen.
