Wind Charger
Bob and Elizabeth Frearson

Its been such a perfect day sailing along under a blue sky, a gently breathing sea and a constant westerly wind bowling us along at a steady 7 knots.  It was one of those moments when all was right with the world.  The icing on the cake was all four of us relaxing on deck, our faces turned to the sun, listening to Mamma Mia, although Hayley hadn’t seen it so attempting to tell the story made it sound rather lame (rather like Piers Brosnans singing and, it could be said, mine)!
The wind died in the night time so it was back to the motor.  On such a very good day even this had its upside because the generator wouldn’t start (Bob is still puzzling over why, it was working perfectly well before we set off, but I have every faith in him) so we needed to replenish the batteries.  We completed our calm crossing of the Bay of Biscay and raised the Spanish courtesy flag with much ceremony although none of had a clue what the Spanish national anthem was.
I woke up to view the Spanish coastline passing my porthole, beautiful scenery marred by a blight of wind farms not one of which was moving an inch.  Viva la EU and its brave new world energy policy that makes fools of us all.
Haley must have been very bored on her night watch because on deck all was shipshape and absolutely Bristol fashion with every rope beautifully coiled and in its place.  Most pleasing.  Stuart has taken to learning all the flags and is setting himself homework and marking it.  I have been contentedly nose in a book and Bob nose in a Kindle, if that is possible with an electronic device, and is very much refreshed after his first full on shower.
We decided to miss out La Coruna (the traditional first stop after the Bay) because it meant travelling east out of our way and are heading instead for Combarro, a tiny port that we picked out of the pilot because a) it is small and we like small and b) the mention of great local fishy restaurants!  Hopefully we will arrive in time for supper.  That is the plan.
PS  We seem to be having trouble getting pics to go through to the blog so we will have to resort to a thousand words instead.
