"20th June Day 8 Azores - Falmouth"

A much speedier day with good winds and a lively sea, giving us 5-7kts.  We reefed the main early as several squalls had past behind us and a short while later we were glad to have done so.  Overnight has given us long rolling swells on our beam which knocks the gentler winds out of the sails, so progress is variable at 3--5kts but still in the right direction with only 396nm to go!  We are encouraged as we have now turned the folded chart over and can see our destination.

Spotting ships is still amazingly difficult, during the day one passed us on our port side at a distance of only 1.2nm, one minute it was visible and the next it had disappeared below the swell.

All is well, the sun is coming up and our porridge is on the stove!
