"12th May - Horta, Faial"

Today the sun has come out!  We took advantage of the weather and the fact that this is our last day here on Faial.  Mark joined us for morning coffee so that we could decide how to spend the day.  The outcome was a taxi ride up to the Caldeira and a 5 hour walk back to Horta, through country lanes with wonderful scenes across the landscape.  We all enjoyed it immensely but I have to say that a long hot shower was a very welcome recovery need.  We plan to have dinner together tonight as Mark will be leaving for Flores to meet up with friends and we will be leaving to head for the UK!

Whisper is ready, we have shopped although only for the minimum stores as I really need to empty the lockers of the vast stock of tins that I brought with us from the UK.  Meals will be a fascinating experience!  Tony, you will be pleased to know that I do have onions so have a good starting point!

We haven't fixed a landfall as the wind direction plays an important part and we do not mind if we land in Cork or Falmouth.  Fortunately, we do not have a tight schedule as some of the younger cruisers who need to return to the UK for work.  We plan to head north to 47 degrees and then head west and see where the winds take us.  As they say "Watch this space!"
