"Road bay, Anguilla" - 9th April

A gentle day, we went for a short walk to find the local supermarket (this has closed down) and an Internet cafe, which turned out to be Roy's Grill.  We wiled away an hour catching up on emails and then decided to have a relaxing lunch overlooking the beach and the Caribbean Sea.  We then went in search of more water and ended up at a bar.  We must have spoken to the dive shop owner as we were directed to the same source as yesterday's supply.  We filled our three jerry cans and Noel went back to pay, but was told there was no cost, it was just nice that he had returned to say 'thank you' and a hand shake was all that was needed!

After syphoning our water into Whispers tank we then went for a swim in this most gorgeous white beach bay in search of turtles.  Sadly the bay was lacking in fish, there was plenty of eel grass,  but not a turtle to be seen!  As we dried ourselves in the sun, what did we see but the small turtle which we saw several times yesterday.

We went ashore for dinner, walking there and back along the sand and the surf.  Several restaurants are on the beach, each looking equally romantic with their subtle lighting and oil lamps twinkling and beckoning you in.  We chose Roy's and having paddled our sandy feet in their huge basin of water left for this purpose, we sat looking out across the bay, the sound of the ocean washing along the shore under a star clad sky.  Just the way it is in the holiday brochures.  After an excellent meal we wandered back to the dinghy dock in the dark.  We had a torch on Rustle but before we clambered on board a group of Americans all wearing head torches arrived and gave us light and a welcoming hand.  This was the same group whom we had helped on their arrival at the dock before dinner!  They had dined at another restaurant and had enjoyed their meals too but agreed that the wine was very expensive!
