"14th June Day 2 Azores - Falmouth"

Sorry for the delay in updating Whisper's Blog.  This has been due to a technical fault with the host computer based in Arizona!  I called Mailasail using the satellite phone and was told that many users across the world's oceans are in the same boat, figuratively speaking that is.  So my emails and blog update are firmly stuck on the computer until the problem is sorted.  The time difference means that they are only just getting into the office and worse still it is Friday and they don't work over the weekend, so it might be Monday before the problem is fixed.

Any old how, we are gently making progress,  more north than we would like to be due to little wind.  We are sailing into the wind as Whisper sails better this way in light airs, as soon as it strengthens this evening we will be able to bear away back on course.  We have already motored for 5 hours as  w had no wind at all earlier this morning.  There are two lows just to the  north of us which are causing the lull in this area, by this evening they should have passed us by and we can tag on the back of them and return to our course for Falmouth.

We sailed 120nm in our first 24hrs, despite the lack of wind earlier.  Which means that we have 1104nm left of the 1224nm from Horta to Falmouth.

We had a brief glimpse of  some dolphins this morning, but not enough time to identify them except to recognise that they were different from the Common Dolphins.  We also had a sighting of a whale, but it was a long way off and heading towards the Azores.

All is  well onboard..
