"Whitehouse Bay, St Kitts - 26th March"

A quiet gentle day spent mainly watching the comings and goings of various sized vessels.  There is a massive three deck motor vessel anchored just beyond us, which amongst other toys, houses two jet skis and a large rib!  As the sun went down we were astonished to see a telescopic anchor light rise up out of the foredeck without any obvious intervention from the crew.

We went on an exploration in the dinghy in the hope that we could get ashore, as according to our guide book there should be a beach bar as well as a dinghy dock.  The dock we found was certainly not dinghy friendly.  It was simply a ridge of boulders extending into the sea and flattened out.  We decided that it wasn't worth putting Rustle at risk as there was no place to tie up and we would have needed to haul her out of the water.  The next place was a sandy gap between the rocky shore, there is a photograph in the book showing  a wooden structure there but it is long gone and as we approached it was just too rocky.  We then ventured around the headland bravely crossing through the reef to the entrance to a salt lake where a new marina is being developed.  Once in the buoyed channel we  could see several yachts inside, as well as the dredger, work ship and digger on the shore.  We had hoped to find a bar, as one is certainly not on the beach or a store, but it is completely deserted and two of the yachts there have not been attended to for some time by the look of their worn sail covers etc.  The amazing feature of this development is that their WIFI works!

The delight of our day was seeing a large group of green backed monkeys on the beach.  We laughed as we had visions of leaving Rustle on the beach, going for a walk and coming back to see the monkeys in the boat with the Alpha male at the helm!  We also saw a turtle, but sadly he took fright when he popped his head up and saw us and quickly dived out of view.
