We have been to and are now leaving New Caledonia having had our long awaited repairs carried out on our aircon system. We also for the first time for a while met several old friends we had crossed paths with along the way.

However we are weary and are keen to get to Australia and that is 1000 miles west so the sooner we get underway the sooner we will arrive there and Trish in particular will be able to relax in the knowledge that her next major passage will be by plane and will take her and I home to see family friends and colleagues.

First we need to get this passage completed safely and in good order.

I am currently heading off from Noumea through the reefs which will take a couple of hours. I will write once we are under way in the open ocean and everything is settled down.

Update:
we have cleared the reefs at 1030 and set sail for the west  .. again!
