Tahuata today, we're anchored in a bay called Hana moe noa.

The water here is as clear as the gin in our glasses and the bay is framed by dramatic green mountains leading down to a golden beach covered in coconut palms. We arrived here from Hiva Oa on Saturday afternoon to find many of our cruising friends in this little bay awaiting our arrival with plans for a pot luck dinner on the beach. We all brought along our specialties and enjoyed a huge meal, lots of drink and some good crossing stories. There are a few local families living here in small huts on the beach and one of the guys came down for a chat. Before he knew it, food and drink were thrust upon him and he told us about life in the bay.

Sunday morning came and we were all ushered to the beach once again to find out who won the Pacific crossing fishing tournament and the highly sought-after Mr Hiva Oa facial hair challenge award. I 'm happy to announce that our little boat cleaned up and walked away with the first prize for fishing, second place Mr Hiva Oa, and a special award for piracy as we were caught attempting to swipe another boats ensign on the previous night. Our new local friend from the village called Steve came down to investigate and brought some fresh coconut and pomplemouse (check spelling). We spent the rest of the day scrubbing the algal beard from the boat and with the help of St Jevon of Eudora, fixing our engine driven refrigeration system which has never perviously run.

Another productive day in Paradise.
