With a tide not with us until 1330 ish we left Eyemouth bound for Berwick on Tweed at 1320. However, with a strong Southerly wind we beat for much of the way at up to 8.5 knots of speed in winds of 18 gusting 32 knots, with 3 reefs in the mainsail.

Our progress was so good that we decided to continue on to Amble, a total distance of 43 nautical miles, only donking for the last 2 ½ hours as the wind was on the nose. One of the better day’s sailing since leaving the Itchen river in June.
