Probably the hardest thing to cope with out here is
the heat, mid eighties now, it really is sweltering.
On Thursday we had some more visitors.... this time
Egrets! five of them turned up and began circling Chelone for an hour or
so. We all shared the opinion they would probably like to alight for some
rest though personally I thought it'd be impossible due to the boat rolling
around and the fact that unlike a small bird they're so leggy and awkward
looking but they came closer and closer until eventually much to our surprise
and delight they managed to land on various areas of our foredeck.
The birds seemed very happy and immediately began
grooming themselves though they did have the occasional scrap as space was at a
premium. Also at that time a little Swallow turned up! It definately took a
shine to Susie and soon she'd won it's trust with the little bird perched on her
finger. After a while the Egrets moved and landed instead on the solar panels
over the Boomkin (see pic). Maybe i'm waffling here a little too much about
these birds but when there's not so much happening these things tend to be a
little more entertaining!
We caught another Mahi Mahi, this time the male
(Bull) with it's blunt head and darker green colouring, bigger too and this one
fish fed all five of us easily. We did catch another large bull Mahi
Mahi (by roving our fishing line through a large flying fish as a lure)
though we were only going to land it for a photo by netting it rather than
the gaff but it got out of the net and away. I spoke with another Skipper
through the SSB radio (turned out to be someone I'd met in Antigua last
year) they'd caught a white Marlin!!.

Susie and myself had Hot Dogs for dinner last
pm with Mustard n' Onions in hot freshly baked rolls, Martin and
Louise had Veggie wraps and Ross some Couscous followed by Louises pancakes with
Jam n' Custard!
We're romping along with 15-20 knots of wind out of
the north east and a forecast for more of the same if not maybe stronger so with
less than 500 miles to go our landfal looks good for late Weds early
Thurs....Yippeee!

Steve, Itenary probably Barbados, Grenada, Cariacou
and north, won't be in Tobago/Trinidad until May. Great txt about 'tinned fruit'
we are in reciept of all.
