Back in Rose Bay and Farewell Sydney

After several weeks in Sydney Harbour we headed 20 miles north to Pittwater, the southern arm of the Broken Bay inlet. The plan was for a weekend lift out, wash and for us to anti-foul furiously and be ready for drop back on Monday, (a very clean bottom being a requirement for New Zealand.) Already our plans have been delayed by unusual weather patterns, so no surprise when 4 days of torrential rain were forecast, and transpired, so our lift out cancelled. Divers cleaned our hull a few days later when the water visibility had improved after the deluge of brown river water.

The area of Pittwater is a boating haven, with numerous bays and inlets, waterfront homes with jetties, some with no road access.    In the water were carpets of large jelly fish.  Every dinghy trip ashore sadly re-shaped a few, as we felt the thud.

Back in Sydney and Phil continues to decipher the ever changing wind direction, in the hopes of getting us a 10 day safe sail to New Zealand. Today we have decided to head south 200 miles and check out from a port called Eden.

It has been lovely spending the extra time with the family in Bondi but it is time to move on!
