Well we managed to escape Suez Canal! Not a pleasant task, especially
with so few crew. There was a near fight on the gangway as we were
sailing out from Suez, some "trader" trying to board to do "business"
when everyone else was leaving or had left.
Anyway we are now sailing down the Red Sea and passing Jeddah,
although far off. Tomorrow evening we shall be approaching the
entrance to the Gulf of Aden, pirate country. As we are going full
speed, about 19 kts, and being high out of the water, will hopefully
deter any would-be pirates. We shall follow the internationally
recognized transit corridor through the Gulf of Aden where there are
plenty of warships to assist or protect.
All going well we should be in Bhavnager, Gulf of Khambat on 14th
around lunchtime. Just hope the SW Monsoon is starting to ease off as
it was a little uncomfortable last month when I was on Tasman Start
doing the same job.
