Once again I owe you all an apology for not keeping you up to date more regularly. Naturally I have plenty of excuses and all very true!!
On the evening of the 15th we were called by an icebreaker, Captain Dronisyn, to get ready to join his convoy!! So he came and broke the ice around us and off we went. It took until breakfast time the next morning to get to the pilot station at St. Petersburg. Only 40 miles but almost 14 hours and with an icebreaker in the lead!!! It was reported on the local news that there were 186 ships stuck in the ice outside.
There were ships scattered all over.. We picked up a pilot almost straight away and came into port. Some ships needed icebreaker assistance to come into port!
We are now very close to the position we occupied in december/ January.
Discharging is going well and they may complete on tuesday all going well.
I am packed and ready to go home. My sudden departure is because of a family bereavement.
I hope that my relief will continue to keep up with the blog and be a little more familiar and not like he is reporting to head office:-)
So bi bi one and all, for the time being, I hope to be back the beginning of July as my son getting married the end of June.
