Greetings from the Gulf of Aden, or as the 'coalition warships prefer
GOA. We are following the 'Internationally Regognised Transit
Corridor' through the area. This is where we can expect assistance if
attacked by pirates as it is a prime area of pirate activity.
I am rather hoping that our speed, about 19 kts, and our height out
of the water, in ballast - no cargo, will deter wouldbe bounty
hunters. One ship was hijacked this morning in southern part of the
Red Sea. Must be our lucky day again as last trip on Tasman Start we
kept over on the Eritrean side and a couple of vessels were attacked
on the Yemeni side. It was the same case today.
Once we clear the Gulf the weather will get rough as the SW Monboon
is still in full swing aqnd this also keeps the pirates away. Bit
uncomfortable for us as the sea will be on the quarter and we will
end up rolling and yawing around.
Due in India 14th.
