Here we go again.....
We arrived safely at Flushing and berthed on
arrival evening 27th.
Loaded a full cargo of carrots, garlic, onions,
potatoes and new and used cars back to Nouakchott and Dakar.
Sailed from Flushing 30th evening once the pilots
were back on duty (they had been off station because of bad
weather).
Last night we entered Bay of Biscay and
unfortunately the weather is not quite so kind to us as last trip!!! At the
moment we are battling against gale force head winds. Luckily the swell is not
so high as can not afford any heavy pitching or rolling with this cargo of
bagged vegetables.
New Year was somewhat subdued and really as a
result of the way life is going for those serving at sea. It was a romantic and
fun adventure in the 'good old' days with long port stays, sociable working
hours. All gone now, less crew, short stays and unsiciable working routines with
lots of unwanted regulation.
Best go and see who is around, this sort of weather
sorts the men from the boys so-to-speak!!
