Dear Family and Friends, More photos of Porto! Torre de Clericoes Clerics tower, Porto. Built into the city walls the church of Santa Clara is everything the cathedral is not! This chapel was part of a convent, a closed order of nuns. With so much wealth it was the target of repeated attacks and sought sanctuary under the protection of a queen of Portugal. The chapel dates from 16th C. Ceiling of Ste Clara Chapel, Porto. Art Nouveau interior to Majestic Cafe, still serving coffee, pastries and luncheon over a century after opening its doors, well worth a visit! Covered street market, Porto This is the bookshop with the staircase that inspired JK Rowling’s Harry Potter Hogwarts staircase.
