Last day in Galapagos

We hope to leave tomorrow for the Tuamotu islands,
3,400 miles. We have been waiting for some wind but it could be weeks so we have
decided to head off anyway. Probably go south to try and reach the trade winds
which are staying unusually far south for this time of year. It could be as much
as 600 miles to reach them with very little wind predicted.
The stay has been fantastic, extremely laid back,
totally safe and friendly people. Great beaches, and I mean great, fair
snorkelling and LOTS of birds, bugs and reptiles wandering about.
It wasn’t quite what I was expecting but not sure
exactly what I was hoping for. It certainly isn’t as wild as I had hoped,
getting to the areas worth seeing is difficult, only by organised tours and only
when they are available and Santa Cruz Island is much more heavily populated
than I thought.
I have run out of time to post photos but will get
organised for the next Internet connection. Could be a while
though. |
