We didn't get a great night's sleep last night,
with the fog horn on the lighthouse next to the marina blasting out all night!
Coastal fog is a well-documented feature around here, and we definitely got our
share of it this morning. We motored through a symphony of ship's fog
horns, grateful for our Sea-Me radar reflector. This clever little bit of
electronics makes us appear as a much larger target on ship's radar screens and
(hopefully) gives them a better chance of avoiding us.
The fog has finally lifted now that we're far
enough offshore and the sun and wind have arrived too. We're sailing south
at 5-6 knots with a gentle breeze on the beam. Oilies and
fleeces have been stripped off and the shorts and sunglasses are
out.
Our next stop is likely to be Gibraltar.
We've got just enough diesel on board if we had to motor all the way there, and
hopefully we won't have to as the wind is being kind to us again. The
weather for the next 24 hours looks ok, but we're promised some thundery squalls
overnight tonight.
