Been motoring all day after a reasonable night
using the wind vane steering gear. Sun shining and a light breeze from the wrong
direction. Took everything out of one of the aft lockers to see if we could do
anything to fix the electric autopilot but it is a sealed unit and so
untouchable so will have to wait until Horta at least to get fixed.
Highlight of today (apart from Jim's toasted ham
and cheese sandwiches for lunch) was sighting two turtles swimming on the
surface - absolutely brilliant, managed to get one photo before they dived out
of sight.
Today was a shower and washing day so we all claim
to smell sweeter but I somehow doubt that this is true and there is no
independent judge so we will never know!
Apparently we are about in the middle of the fleet
but still have not seen anyone else. Radio reception today was really poor so we
could not even pick up where the other 8 or so boats using the net
are.
All well and settling in, we'll be another 10 days
at this rate. |
