No wind, wind, no wind, wind .....
Finally got sails settled in the evening after a
day of mainly motoring and yet more fuel
calculations. Looks like these calcs will have to be done on a daily basis now
to maximise our speed when there is no wind.
The frozen and vacuum packed meat left in the
fridge finally had to be thrown away today. It lasted really well and we had our
first tinned meat since we left Las Palmas (chicken curry) for dinner. Lunch was
cheese snack (still lots ofn cheese left). The only good thing about the meat
finishing is that if needs be we can turn off the fridge to save power but it
doesn't look as if we will ge that desperate.
An Egret came to visit today. A long way from home
and the second such that we have seen. The firts one (several days ago) circled
for a while and decided not to land but his one sat on the top of the mast for a
few hours even when we had sails up before leaving us for goodness knows
where.
Tonight is a 3/4 moon night so stars not so bright.
Last night was amazing, once the moon disappeared the sea was so calm that
planets and stars where giving reflections off the sea!
We have moved our watches back another hour last
night because the "dawn watch" was no longer at dawn (now 0915ish UK time) -
signs of progress in moving west.
Talking to a Norwegian boat on the radio today, all
of their crew have missed their flights home they are so much later than
expected. Which reminds me we must remeber to put our boat number sign on the
starboard side at some point for when we do eventually get there, oherwise the
finish boat will not know who we are.
It was Ian's turn to make bread to day, remarkably
successfull so the prssure is on me for tomorrow after Richard's very edible
contribution the day before ......think I might go for the packet of instant
brownie mix!!
Crew all fine, if a little frustrated.
Oh, and we still haven't caught any more
fish........
