Until today our best noon to noon run was on the
first day when we achieved 144nm and were well up the rankings. Our average over
the whole trip has only been about 120 whereas we had hoped for nearer 150 per
day in the trade winds, Yesterday we managed to do 146!!
Today however I fear that we will have dropped
again due to low winds and swell. Sailing with main and 2 genoas.
We slowed this afternoon to look at a yacht that
had been in site for a while. Turned out to be a French one heading for
Martinique and not an ARC yacht. When we called them first on the radio we
got 3 responses from other ARC boats over the horizon but all ready for a chat
Overdraft, Aurora B and a couple of very tired guys in Sophie (sailing 2
up).
Richard cooked an excellent meal of meat and 2 veg
which, in the tropics was not a pleasant task. Down below in the daytime now it
is a trifle unpleasant especially when cooking.
