Arrival Gibraltar a real milestone!!

After several attempts to depart
Fuengirola had failed due to very strong west winds. Finally on Thursday
24th September we left Fuengirola full of anticipation and headed for
Gibraltar, however part way into the voyage, again we knew it was not
going to work, but Estepona, due west was a possibility. We managed to get to
Estepona with a decreasing wave state and same wind strength. As it was still
early we headed south towards Sotogrande and despite Tuna nets we managed to
achieve this goal, only now 11 miles from Gibraltar. We filled up with fuel and enquired about a mooring for the night only to
find it was very expensive so went into the anchorage outside for
nothing.
The morning of the 25th was
lovely and we headed of with only a little wind. However the Tuna fisherman had
other ideas, send us first to port then starboard around their nets which were
littered across our route south. We rounded Europe point at 1140, the most
southern point of Europe and headed for Queensway marina and our berth. The
bonus was we can stay here for 12days having previously told six days was the
maximum.
I have to add that we managed to
pick Ricardo up from Gibraltar airport as arranged on Friday afternoon. Which
had been looking a bit doubtful a few days earlier.
