Getting close now, about 220 miles to go. We
have been sailing downwind now for about 48 hours doing a consistent 5-6 knots
with winds of 13 - 18 knots sometimes 20 knots. We are able to sail close
to our desired course of 290 degrees. It is very hot. We are all
looking forward to mee ting up with friends made in Las Palmas to swap
experiences. Few went as far south as we did and it will also be
interesting to see how the TCF and engine hours adjustments affect our relative
positions. Skipper has learnt a lot, nothing can beat the experience for
understanding better how to prepare for the next voyage.
We now think that we should cross the finishing
line on thursday morning and if the wind dies we will motor/sail to make
sure. Discussions here are now centring
around beer v. G & T and which party and where.
