On the way to trafalgar Falls.
Anchorage pool again.
The old and the new. A Carib canoe unchanged for
1,600 years in front of a modern 100 foot tourist cat.
The fishermen in the canoe are shooting a small
ring net.
Castle Bruce rollers. The breaking wave in the
distance stands about 10 feet tall. Neil and I used to swim/surf here with the
youth fellowship. We must've been nuts, it's really dangerous!
Council building in the Carib reservation; the
biggest fanciest building in the village - nothing changes then!
Our guide Kendrick. His great grandmother was
Scottish and was a Lockhart. Note the big pot that Bev is standing beside. It is
a cocoa roasting pot that was adapted by the Caribs for boiling their meat.
French were the tastiest.
Carib lady basketmaking. We bought a couple of
well-made items for a couple of pounds.
The Ghost fruit. It smells like old
socks.
Crocodile Will beside the Cassava shredding
machine. An adaption of the knife sharpening wheel. Cassava is/was their staple
diet.
