It's been an eventful day today. We passed the 1000-mile mark, entered a new time zone, showered, fixed the self-stearing gear (this time a block came off), did some extreme washing (Neil's shorts and my towel made a break for freedom, the shorts made it but don't worry, he has a spare pair), changed the rig - taking down the main and mizzen and making use of the twin headsails - and had a can of Coke. Alan even found time to splice a few parachutes and get some extreme sun bathing done and Neil had a false fish alarm.
With the headsails up we are not so stable so the rolling has begun again - noone is expecting much sleep. Dougie and Beverly are still in the corridor (no chance of us sneaking anything from the fridge then) and us occupants of the stinky peak will be hanging on to our lee-cloths, or else fighting over the couch in the saloon.
Tea tonight will be something pasta based by the look of it, a shame, as I found two frozen par-boiled tatties in the freezer today wich could've been put to good use otherwise.
The occasional rain shower has caught us off guard but it seems nothing compared to the ARC reports. It seems our skipper/navigator/cook was wise to take us to the tropics early on, the more northern boats have suffered from lashing rain and severe winds - dispite our best efforts, we couldn't shed many tears for them!
