We had discovered from Owen Sails a few months ago that we could claim back our VAT, albeit with much form filling and a visit from customs prior to leaving the UK. Hence the stay in Bangor. We arrived about 8pm which was actually really interesting as we had to approach the marina at night.

The best thing about the marina is the bath in which I spent many happy hour over the few days we were there. The customs people where unable to come until Monday so there was time to do more jobs but also time to get in touch with old friends, Brian and Fran Kelly and Kevin. We met up with them in Belfast on Saturday night, as there was a music festival on, and went to several places to listen to music.

The funniest part of the whole evening was trying to get a taxi home at 2 am. Duggie couldn’t help himself from asking a young lad if the piercing through his lower lip was sore and then had a great conversation with him about rock music. Two ladies were in charge of the taxi rank, taking control of the crowd with loud voices and great vocabularies. They ended up putting a girl with a wand in the taxi with us as her stop was on our route. Anyway, we got home safely after a really good night out.

Monday morning we had a visit from customs which went well, they where very helpful and we got ourselves ready to leave for Ardglass in the morning.

The fattest seal any of us had ever seen was living in the marina, begging his food from the fishing boats.
