Back in the water.

Swiftwing is now back in to the water after seven months ashore, but we still have plenty to do however, at least we now get a swim whenever it feels a little hot. Douglas is busy servicing the winches and the water maker is on to top up the water supply for showers and soon there will need to be some lunch on the go!

Sanding the hull a long job in the heat.

We have now settled into a routine and are looking forward to heading up to Cariacou towards the end of the week, about a 40 mile trip. We still have a bit of preparation to do and we need to replenish provisions but this is not a problem in Grenada, as both the fruit market and the supermarket are very good, the latter being on the expensive side, everything being imported from America, but you have to just watch what you buy. The bus service is excellent and you can travel into town for about 50p to the accompaniment of reggae Christmas carols.

This is a picture of the yard boys coming to pick up Swiftwing

After the wet season Grenada looks beautiful with colourful flowers everywhere.  These where outside the shower block.  I was glad that I wasn’t painting this beastSwiftwing Glad to be back in the water, a very shiny Swiftwing about to be lowered into her natural element; water temperature is 31 degrees. We are now anchored in the bay ahead, it’s called Prickly Bay. It’s a very affluent area near the university which only takes medics and vets.

We have been at anchor for a week now and it's great to be back swimming off the boat. We will be heading North again in a day or two.The boat anchored beside us is 'Shian' from Oban and the one ahead is from Crinan though I haven't found out her name yet.
