Sgd. The Skipper.
Pictures taken by the Dutch yacht Elza as we
overtook her. Note Sarah dangling feet in water as she was too hot. This was on
the 42 mile passage between Guadaloupe and Antigua.
The entrance to English Harbour, Antigua, showing
Fort Berkley point to the left looking up towards Nelson's
Dockyard.
Some of the superyachts alongside. A good lottery
win wouldn't go far here!
A couple of the racing yachts alongside. On the
right is 'Steinlager' a Maxi 80 footer, the winner of the Whitbread around the
world race,
on the left a Whitbread 60'. In the middle the
ubiquitous white plastic boat.
English harbour from Shirley Heights. Yes, that is
rain but it didn't last long. Fort Berkley to the left, Freeman Bay in the
middle, Tank Bay middle right and Ordinance Bay to the right. Swiftwing is the
black blob at the entrance to Ordinance. Falmouth Harbour is at the middle
top.
Four nurses rowed across the Atlantic in this boat
for charity. I rest my case! There was a whole fleet of these when we arrived.
This is the race that Ben Fogel made a film about. There were four boats still
to come in. Someone had written on one of the boats Atlantic crossing 59
days.
