OFF TO THE TEIDE

Yesterday was an adventurous one. We picked up a car early(ish) and went exploring.  It was a baby car and did manage the mountains, though it was typical Alpine roads.   First we went to Masca where the original Guancho dwellers settled.  This was the last of the Canaries to be conquered by the Spanish.  The views from Masca across to La Gomera were spectacular, we were in the clouds and you could see the sea far below as well as competing clouds on La Gomera.  We discovered a great bar and accommodation – so if you really want to get away from it all, we can give you their telephone number!  They have kept it really old-fashioned and the roads are so narrow, its really restricting all but the very dedicated from visiting – a bonus on this island.

From there we went up Mount Teide, but the cable car was a trip too far, with loads of coaches parked awaiting their turn to disgorge the passengers and head for the hill! Back in time for another fine restaurant and another very billowy night.
