Faro – 03/09/06

It’s now six weeks since we left the River Hamble (England); with many well wishes sent to us. It seems longer, in a way, as we have travelled all the way to the Algarve.

For those following our regular b logs (by the first mate and ”she who must be obeyed”.  you will have seen where we have stopped: in short, Yarmouth (IoW), Benodet and Sauzon (France), Sada (Spain) and Leixoes, Nazare, Cascais, Sines, Lagos, Portimao, Vila Moura and Faro (Portugal).

We have had many guests who we hope enjoyed their visit, but have had a lack of decent sailing, also due to variable winds and sea trial hitches.

We are currently anchored outside Far, on the flight path to the airport.  This is not so bad as the lagoon we are in is a bird sanctuary and storks are seen on every trip to the Doca. We are awaiting a fuse to be sent to us as we blew it trying to use the compactor. Those in the know will remember breaker 11 problems – which obviously still exist.

In the meantime we are planning our passage to Madeira, where we will meet up with David and Sheena.   These are our first “overnighters” with just Colette and me.  I will write a truthful account next month.

Captain’s Blog – out.
