ANOTHER ISLAND - ANOTHER AIRPORT

Marina San Miguel, on the south side of Tenerife, is the nearest marina to the biggest airport.   The flight path is not disruptive, but the work going on in the marina (two very big diggers working hard from 0800) is a bit noisey!   Hey ho, least we’re settled here now.

Our time with Monica and Andrew  was a bit disrupted, due to the fact we could not reasonably get into Puerto Morgan – the berth being too small and – for those who realise the significance, we would have had to be stern to, with no pontoons.  That’s difficult with a boat which has davits and a rib hanging off the back!   We anchored outside, but by the second night, the swell was so big it was dislodging the anchor chain, a very unnerving experience.  Andrew did step on board, but so sure were we that they would have been able to get on board en famile the following day, he only saw the cockpit.

Tom managed to get off the boat the following day, but I stayed on board, the swell being just too big for comfort.  He managed to see the family again, but I made do with a telephone call.  We pitched and rolled all night and got away by first light the following day.   It was a blustery, long crossing, as we were fighting both the swell and wind, but PT handled it very well.  Due to lack of sleep, us less so and a very silly mistake, given the swell, was not turning round the Dorades!   That means we got water below we weren’t expecting!    After a good morning’s work however, she’s as spick and span as ever.   Tom and I now in need of another shower however!  For those anticipating Skype conversations – the marina is sadly lacking.  We will make enquiries later to see if there’s the facility at the country club and see if we can use the wifi there.

We will have a look around the resort this afternoon, making sure that we’ve found the highlights for Suzy, who turns up this weekend – well someone’s got to do it!
