As you will have gathered from the blog pictures, both Tom and I have
been suffering from lack of exercise (outside doing jobs on the boat, which creates
a fair amount of sweat). Anyway one of the "must sees" of this
place is Shirley Heights. It's a spectacular
look-out with views across the Atlantic and Caribbean,
both north and south. An hour's walk from the marina, most people looked
at us as though we were mad when we said we were going to walk - and indeed we
did get passed by the odd Roller stretch limousine on the way up.
As we were walking, however, we saw far more of the local flora and
fauna than most - from humming birds, to mountain goats and their shepherd.
The goats moved too fast, however, and the infamous Carib goat stew will
have to wait for another day.
Once at the top, there's a nice bar plus patio area where the local
bands come to entertain the guests. They do a regular Sunday night
"jump up" there, and you can enjoy the music and a barbecue - so book
now!
Today we will be moving out of the marina - once we scrape up enough for
the bill. We're planning to sit in the bay for a day or so, then moving
northwards.
