Wednesday started with a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the bow, a truly
wonderful start to the day. Delphine (muppet number 3) was cast early in the
day into the blue ocean in the hope of catching that elusive tuna. As the
day progressed the wind dropped and the temperature rose, the crystal clear
blue waters of the calm Atlantic Ocean called, yes it was time we decided
for Angus' big splash. We cut the engine and furled in the sails; Angus
limbered up on deck and mentally prepared himself for the task. As he walked
tentatively to the bow, repeated his mantra "It's only a big swimming pool"
and climbed onto the diving platform. A quick and slightly nervous last
shout and he leapt into the deep blue and made a big splash. Like Thorpe the
Torpedo he glided through the water (ok so a little poetic license here!) to
the aft deck and climbed the ladder back on board. One small leap for man,
one great leap for Charity - well done that man! But there was a slight
problem, the photography team didn't get the shot for the blog, so off he
was sent to leap once more and so he did, this time it was captured for all
to see. He was of course joined in this escapade by the skipper himself so
two for the price of one! The afternoon continued quietly, the crew with
heads down in books or enjoying the sunshine and not a nibble on the fishing
line to distract. As evening fell and the sun began to set there was
suddenly a pull on the line and the fishing rod bent with the strain, the
boys leapt to their feet and raced across the deck, but sadly too late,
Delphine was no more and a large silver fish headed off into the distance,
the saga will continue. Fish caught 2, Muppets and fish lost 3! Thursday is
another great sunny day and just under 400 miles to go. Slightly better
winds mean that Bodgit and Scamper will be in action again, trying to take
us to warp factor 3 with Parasailor 2, watch this space!
On a personal note, happy 4th birthday this weekend to my wonderful niece
Aimee, hope you enjoy your party. Sandra
