We made reasonable progress yesterday evening, the wind
has continued to drop and veer - it is now around 5kt from NNW. At first light I
put up the spinnaker; even with that I'm typically making only a couple of
knots, but I have a useful southerly current which has helped the run. So,
temporarily, 'beach' weather. Last night the sunset was perfect so I did a
compass check (point boat at setting sun and see if the compass gives the right
answer - it did to 1 deg), the simplest astro but always strangely
satisfying.
