I have just complete day one of a weekend of learning celestial Navigation in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. This is learning how to navigate at sea using the sun, moon and stars. If our electronics fail for any reason we then have a non electrical back up. I think it will be fun to do anyway side by side with the GPS. I'm so thrilled and lucky to have 3 days of one to one training with sailing and Navigation legend Stokey Woodall. Stokey has over 40 years of  experience and is a very well known international authority on the subject in the nautical world. So far I've only learned how to use the extensive tables required and will take my first sun sights tomorrow.
