Day 3
Not a great deal of wind today and looks like it
may be pretty flat for a couple of days or so, so not a great deal of speed
being made but we are steady at about 5 knots over the ground, so it could be
worse.
A fairly major disaster averted this morning,
whereupon opening our catering size Coffee container it was discovered to be
ground Coffee and not instant, and we'd no instant left. However us sailors
being nothing if not capable of improvising, we set about working out how to
make the coffee. Andrew first suggested that I should sacrifice my favourite
linen shirt to the cause, which I politely declined to do. So, thanks to
"Plumbing world" Andrew sacrificed one of his T shirts as a form of filter. We
then put the water and coffee into some insulated mugs that have opening tops on
them, with the T shirt material stretched underneath and allowed it to stew for
a while. Then you open the top, turn the mug upside down and allow it to filter
the coffee as it comes out. Perfect real coffee, quite a result. I just hope we
don't run out of T shirts before reaching the Azores
!!
