Oerias to Sines (Sat

Cat-man-do

Well, reluctantly we have to leave Oerias, a rather nice marina with the nice Bars and Restaurants. We attended the prize giving at a rather swanky establishment with rather swanky bar prices but as a consolation the food wasn't bad at all. The following day dawned bright and sunny so myself, Robert and Marky Mark (Rebel T) decided to head for the local outdoor pool. After a couple of false starts i.e.: we couldn't find the changing rooms and other minor details, we jumped in for a swim. Not the warmest pool in the world, but what a crackin' Public facility. Loads of sunbeds to laze around on, and would you believe a bar that served Beer next to the pool. All in all a result. That evening as usual we hit the bar with several other of the crews. Pete headed off to bed whilst myself and Robert partied on. After a while, I'd had enough and headed off back to the boat. Kindly escorted by the two ladies from Ruby. I got as far as Ruby and was kindly invited in to share Champagne, and who was I to argue ! A half hour or so later saw Rob staggering down the pontoon to join us for a few minutes and kindly help to finish off the Bottle. duty done, we headed back to our boat.....accompanied by the ladies who wanted to see our accommodation and guitars !! Needless to say by this stage we'd all had a "reasonable" amount of alcohol and succeeded in waking Pete from his slumbers at about 3 a.me. He did briefly make a bleary eyed appearance looking slightly like we were going to get a lecture, but after a few seconds he obviously decided it wouldn't be worth the effort and returned to his bed. The following day again dawned bright and warm and after doing a few jobs on  the boat, the 3 musketeers headed off to check on the quality of the local beach. Mission accomplished we returned to the boat to prepare for a few more drinks that evening.
The following morning we awoke to prepare for the start and a cracking wind blowing through the marina and in the right direction, so off we went to the start line. A stunning display of tandem starts by ourselves and Rebel T was somewhat spoiled by us getting our sail twisted and seeing Rebel walse off into the distance we drifted rather aimlessly over the line with no sails up at all !! Anyway all sorted and sails up and we shot off like a Rocket, well, for the first 10 minutes  or so when the wind died altogether. We bobbed around pretty pointlessly for half an hour or so till it picked up and off we went. Big sails up and a good stiff breeze with a nice following swell saw our speed rise at one point to the dizzy heights of 14.2 Knots not a bad effort all told.
Sines was another quaint little fishing based village with what appeared to an oil or chemical terminal behind it. Lovely little cobbled streets winding their way up the hill, to some cracking views over the Bay and beach.
Some of the best Marina facilities we'd tried yet too.
We've just left for our final leg down to Lagos, very light winds at the minute and not making huge headway, but hopefully it'll pick up later, or it could be a late night !!!

Take care everyone at home and we look foreward to seeing you all at the end of the week.
