Well, we're well on our way, though with probably another two weeks or so to go. In the company of several other yachts yesterday, and one or two overnight but today sees us alone out here and no one else in sight. Strangely we had a close encounter with a yacht last night with him passing just half a mile in front of us. You wouldn't believe it, thousands of miles of open ocean and you're in danger of hitting another boat in the middle of the night. Howard's getting his head around taking sun and star readings with the sextant and getting positions correct to within 5 miles or so. The rest of us are waiting till he's got confident at it, then going to have a go. Our only issue on board is power, as in electrical and we seem to go through it extraordinarily quickly where we've now turned all the chart plotters (our mapping systems) off and just heading in the general right direction. It seems to be working fine so far and saving us a bit of "juice" into the bargain.
Sun's shining and all's well with the world.
To be continued .........
