Confessions of a Cat Crew...

Cat-man-do

It's been a quiet day today, roasting hot temperatures of 39c and burning sun light. No Whales today or Dolphins, but still a huge number of Flying Fish.
Those of you who've been following our progress (Thank you) will know that this rally is also a race. It is however a race for fun above all. Those Tinkers on Rebel T threw down the gauntlet many months ago in Guildford of all places where we were sat behind them at a seminar about the crossing. They were sat in front of myself and Peter when they turned round to us and announced that they had a similar size boat and that we were the competition. The race was on...There was a "reasonable" amount of drinking that evening and North/South divide banter re: Whippets and Pigeons. It was all good natured though and over the course of this year, it's fair to say the lads off Rebel T have become good friends.
There was a little rivalry over the course of Rally Portugal as to who had the quicker boat, but to be honest no one really cared and a lot of fun was had by all.
Now the confession time. People have been supporting us from afar in this journey, and always taking an interest in how we are doing in regards to Rebel.
Well, <hangs head in shame> They are the only boat we're really concerned with beating to St Lucia, but we haven't been quite as dedicated to the task as maybe we could have been. In particular, the "sausage" you've all heard so much about is often not hoisted until almost lunch time. The reason being that after a long night on watch all the off going crew at 6am wants to do, is turn in to their bunks. The other two having just woken up aren't too enthusiastic about wrestling a 70 foot sausage out of its' hole either.
So today we make a commitment to all our followers. Weather permitting the Sausage will either be flown from first light in the morning or should it look good enough, all night too.
It may be fair to justify our actions by saying that had Rebel been a little closer in this competition, things would undoubtedly be taken with a much more serious view. However, we commit to taking this racing lark seriously from this point on.
Now where did I put my Beer?......

Love to all
