The Azores High!!
We've found it!
Nice for Sunny weather but not for sailing. We have about 5 knots of wind (true) which means we're going nowhere fast. We switched the engines off last night in a bid to save some fuel but have, in desperation been running one at a time this morning. Look away now Mum....  We were going to make the effort and head up the mast this morning to sort the Genoa problems but by the time we'd got all the gear together to do it, a reasonable sized swell had built so it was cancelled due to a lack of interest. It must be said however that the colour of the sea in these parts is incredible a deep turquoise colour, with the occasional Portuguese Man O War Jellyfish drifting past with its' little sail up. Amazing little creatures. Talking of creatures, Andrew continues his fishing efforts but now using different lures but still no success after our first flush of several days ago. Mary's suggested boiled eggs but we're not sure how to keep them on the hook.....Suggestions on a postcard please. As the weather has turned like it has, we've decided today is a day off for Sunbathing, reading books, listening to music (Andrew still can't do "Piano man" on the harmonica he's brought along)
We'll have to get to the Azores soon though, as was pointed out this morning, we've nearly run out of Diet coke, or any coke for that matter. And the Beer situation is also looking grim, another week or two's supply at best. Oh, whilst I remember , you may recall that we'd had to ration Tea bags due to a lack of said items for the past week. Well, whilst having a root around in one of the lockers yesterday Andrew found another 200 we'd forgotten we'd bought, so no problem there now. Coffee's getting a bit thin though.........

For the technical amongst you the pressure has risen from 1018mb to 1023 in the last 24 hours, I think, it's welcome to the Azores high....

Take care back home, love to everyone
Brian and Andrew xxx
