Fleetwood to Plymouth...

Well, the big adventure begins!
We left Fleetwood last Thursday for a non-stop trip to Fowey in Cornwall where the plan was to stop for some "refreshments" !!
Let go at 6 in the morning and headed out into the Irish Sea, wind, as usual in the wrong direction so motors on for the first leg down to the coast off Anglesey. After turning South the wind more favourable, sails up and at a steady 7-8 knots, off we went. Crackin' sail over the Bristol Channel good weather and at one stage 20 odd Dolphins for company, though no whales like previous crossings of that area.
Made good time and, as usual headed round Lands End in the dark (we'll get to actually see it one day) Bigger swells and a rising wind meant taking the Genoa down and just using a reefed main for the last few miles, though still managing a healthy 6.5 knots. On reaching our waypoint just to the North of Wolf Rock we turned and headed East along the South coast with the Lizard light happily guiding the way.
We'd been keeping a wary eye on the weather and as we seemed to be running ahead of some pretty foul weather, abandoned Fowey and headed straight for Plymouth. Engines only started briefly for a quick "top up" of the batteries we sailed the majority of the trip and thoroughly enjoyed it.
On arrival in Plymouth, the welcome sight of Bob from the marina waiting to take our lines and a reception committee of those rogues from Rebel T !!
A Scotch or two and the odd Dark Rum to celebrate the arrival in the customary manner !!
All the crew headed off back "up North" with the exception of Brian who was left to sort the boat for the week and to fend off the ever present advances and tactic interrogation from Rebel T....

Crew for the trip:
Peter Thompson
Brian Croston
Jonathon Thompson
John
David (we only realised he was on board when he woke up just short of Plymouth!! )
