Another short one today.

Another breather from me writing the blogs today as Howards taking his turn putting pen to paper, so I'll leave the bulk for him.
We've had another good day though earlier the squalls continued to feed in from behind. Also lots of thunder storms around with lightning all around us, but luckily all a good distance away so not unduly worrying to us. We had gusts over the deck this morning in excess of 45 knts (over 50mph) which made things very "interesting" for a while. We made our smallest sail, the jib, as small as it would possibly go, but still we managed some fairly respectable speeds over the ground. No VHF contact with anyone today.
We received several E mails, including one from the organisers warning us of big thunder storms in the area with gusts of wind possibly in excess of 50 knots. We are however lucky and as we'd pushed on the previous few days it would appear that we have reached the other side of their predicted positions before they intensified further.
One really touching note today was a phone call from Tim on Rebel T asking if we were ok as we hadn't posted a lunchtime position. My fault entirely, things were getting a little "wild" here at the time and I totally forgot to do it. So if you're checking the World Cruising Clubs' site for our position it will probably be wrong. It should however be correct on here (mailasail pages) Nice that the boys on Rebel were worried about us though.
We were going to ring them as we knew they were a little way behind us which would have put them just about where the storms were, but didn't ring in case they were "busy" (It can get very busy on a yacht in bad weather)
What I can tell you however is that at about 6 o clock this evening (6/12) they were almost exactly 100 miles behind us. They had also used their engines for 10 hours for propulsion during the night which will go against their time.
So, so far all looks good, the weather has settled a little and the seas are smaller and we're happily romping through the night around the 7/8/9 knot range.
That's it for me today, stay safe
