Hello all,
After several days waiting for wind we left Ponta Delgada marina in the
Azores bound for Baiona, NW SpaIn, mid-morning, Wednesday 4th July. We mostly
motored until out beyond the island, then cut the engine and headed close-hauled
into a NNE force 3-4 wind. It was great to be on our way at last.
We’re making around 4-6 knots most of the time, sometimes more, and have
covered about 200 of the 900 nautical miles to Baiona. The wind has been pretty
steady, sometimes reaching F5, generally from the N to ENE.
Things have been largely uneventful but I saw a pod of five or six
beautiful porpoises yesterday morning as they headed towards us leaping out of
the water and glistening in the sunshine. It’salso nice to see shearwaters from
time to time swooping low over the swells, sometimes very close to the boat.
All is well,
Alan |
